ClassDojo

In our class, we are using ClassDojo.  According to the ClassDojo site, "ClassDojo is an easy way to engage your classroom by recognising positive behaviors as they happen."  My students are so motivated to earn points.  I love that you can so easily update what students can earn points for.  In my class, we have a special time of the day when we practice social skills.  We call it our "Pow Wow."  If my pow wow lesson for the day is focused on giving compliments to make others feel better, then I may add that to my positive rewards that week.  Anytime I catch a student giving someone a compliment, they can earn a point.  It is an awesome way to encourage positive behaviors.
I also love the reports.  You can view and print reports of student's behaviors.  You can customize reports by length of time.  So, if you want to see a child's behavior patterns since the beginning of the month, it will show behaviors since the beginning of the month (or any date you wish).  It has been an effective way to communicate behaviors (positive and negative) with parents and other professionals that work with my students.
Other teachers in my school are beginning to catch on to how amazing ClassDojo is and how well it's worked for my classroom.  WE LOVE CLASSDOJO!

Dana

Dana has been named the 2011-2012 NC Title I School of Distinction!  This weekend our principal, Mrs. Schofield, Mrs. Wertenburger, Mrs. Walter, and Mrs. Blackwell are in Seattle, WA representing our school.  We are so proud to be wildcats and we are excited that they are sharing their trip with us on the Wildcat News Blog.
