"How To" Writing

 How To Blow a Bubble

Our latest writing adventure... "How-To" Nonfiction. We focused on the author's purpose when writing.  Some authors write to inform or to entertain.  We wanted to focus more on the informative aspect of writing.  Students wanted to teach people how to do things that they are very knowledgeable about.  We decided what their specialty was, and they wrote instructions for how to do that activity.  Then, students were given the opportunity to learn a new skill, blowing bubbles with bubble gum.  They were given time to practice and time to plan, write, and edit a set of instructions.  This was the successful result.
