Olympic Engineering Camp


This week, we are be having Olympic Engineering Camp here at Dana School.  In our classroom, we will be learning about the Olympics in the following ways:

  • Discussing teamwork, sportsmanship, respecting diversity, equal opportunities, and patriotism.
  • Competing in the Math Mind Olympics by solving Olympic math word problems.
  • Comparing data collected about the 2014 Sochi Olympics medal count.
  • Studying the functions of human body systems in different sports.
  • Inferring the meaning of words and phrases in sports poems.
  • Becoming experts on a chosen Winter Olympic sport.
  • Engineering
    • Developing models of the setting for the sports
    • Recreating the events in the classroom
    • Designing effective uniforms for the sports
    •  Designing a plan for the athletes in each sport to train their bodies to become more effective
    •  Designing equipment to use in the sports

·      How has engineering changed your sport?
